When it comes to subscription services, there is more than streaming. Apple’s new gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade provides users with access to more than 100 games. The feature is a part of the iOS 13 beta update that select customers tested last September. Apple Arcade is currently available in 150 countries.
The subscription service is $4.99 per month with a one-month free trial. Subscribers can also pay a yearly fee of $49.99 and save $9.89 over the monthly fee. The service includes family sharing for up to 6 accounts.
Apple Arcade allows users the option for offline play and multi-device play meaning you can start playing on your iPhone and pick up on your iPad. The gaming service allows users to play games on any iPhone that can run iOs 13, iPad 7th generation, current iPad Pros, MacBook, iMac, and Apple TV. Several controllers like the SteelSeries Nimbus, Xbox One S controller, and PlayStation 4 DualShock controller are all compatible with the service.
Apple is getting into the subscription game with Arcade. The service is set to change mobile gaming and directly compete with Stadia, Google’s new cloud-gaming platform.
Stadia is marketed towards the more serious gamer interested in series, while Apple Arcade is geared towards families and the casual gamer. With both game services rising in popularity, it is safe to say similar, competing services will hit the market soon.
